Chen Wei, a researcher with the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Military Medical Research Institute, stated that a recombinant vaccine developed by China was also effective in the mutated novel coronavirus.
Noting that the recombinant vaccine in question is the first vaccine for COVID-19 in the world that begins phase II clinical tests, Chen stated that phase III tests should be conducted in other countries where the number of cases is high to prove the safety and effect of the vaccine.
"The recombinant vaccine is a vaccine that was developed through genetic engineering, and this vaccine is also effective in the mutated Covid-19," Chen said.
Chen said that more than half of the COVID-19 vaccines, which are currently in the third phase of clinical trials around the world, are being developed by China, and that China is among the first in the world in vaccine research.
